Nelson-Henry returns for 2024/25!

12/08/2024

Following his successful spell with the side after joining last January, everyone at Hemel Storm is excited to announce Darien Nelson-Henry will be back for another year.

Coming out of retirement to join Storm, the ex-Leicester Riders captain added vital experience and guidance as he helped to propel his new team to Playoff glory.

He may not have initially envisaged playing such a large role on the court but became a key man after injuries left coach Mark Clark shorthanded and he proved a highly valuable addition. Most notably he caught fire with 33 points to help his side to victory in what was an important league fixture away at Reading Rockets and went under the radar with a crucial double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Playoff final, playing with great poise and intelligence as Storm prevailed three point winners.

He said “I am very excited to return to Hemel for another season. It was great to experience the winning culture, culminating in our end of season success at the final.”

Darien has settled perfectly into the squad and will continue to be a dominant presence both on and off the court. With his track record of silverware including BBL Playoff and Cup trophies, he is determined to add more to the cabinet as Storm turn their attention to another season of NBL action.

“Naturally, we’re looking to bring the same level of focus, determination and performance to next season with the aim of hanging more banners in the StormDome! I can’t wait to work with both the staff and my teammates to keep the successes rolling for the 24-25 season!”
