Saturday 12th March: Hemel Storm 93-76 London Lions II (NBL Division One)
Saturday’s game saw Vanarama-sponsored Hemel Storm face London Lions II in what was a game that both teams had to win for different reasons. For Storm, it was to gain some ground on any hopes of finishing in the top 4; as for Barking it was to gain ground on teams and push for the playoffs. Storm came out on top in what was a comfortable and convincing game winning the game 93-76.
London Lions II were without their star player Jase Harrison which definitely showed throughout the game with a low percentage of shots made by the Lions throughout. However, it was Bradley Kaboza who stepped up for them scoring 28 points and claiming 6 rebounds.
As for Storm, the scoring was shared out with Greg Poleon, Taylor Johnson, Shaq Lewis and Sam Newman seeing double figures in terms of scoring. There were many positives to take from this game as Storm found joy especially outside the three point line after some fantastic passing and what was the highlight play of the game saw Taylor Johnson throw the ball up to Greg Poleon for the alley-oop at the side of the basket.
This game was a must win for Storm and they certainly delivered. If they want to get the home leg they need, they need to keep picking up wins from the remaining games.
Next game is on Sunday 20th March where Hemel Storm host Essex Rebels. Tickets available at the door, on the night or in advance at www.stormbasketball.net.
