Storm outclassed by Thames Valley Cavaliers in disappointing performance

17/01/2022

Sunday 16th January: Thames Valley Cavaliers 97-67 Hemel Storm (NBL Division One)

Sunday’s game saw Hemel Storm face Thames Valley Cavaliers in a 3rd vs 4th battle, in what was sure to be a tight and entertaining game. Unfortunately, this was not the case as Storm could not execute their game plan whereas Thames Valley did. This resulted in Thames Valley running out comfortable winners, 97-67.

It was a performance to forget for Storm, as they could not execute many of their open shots, whereas Thames Valley shot well from outside the three point arc, mainly from former Storm players AJ Roberts and Blayne Freckleton and used their big players well inside the paint with Hakeem Sylla particularly active and efficient from there.

In terms of Storm, Taylor Johnson managed to get 20 points after being kept reasonably quiet by the strong defence of the Cavaliers, Greg Poleon got 14 points inside the arc and Bode Adeluola contributed 10 points off the bench to the Storm total of 67.

Storm now look to regroup as they go into next week’s home game, where they need to come out strong in order to win.

Storm are back at home this Saturday when they face Loughborough Riders. The game tips at 7pm and tickets to the game are available online at www.stormbasketball.net or can be purchased at the door on the night.
