Saturday 19th February: Worthing Thunder 82-76 Hemel Storm (NBL Division One)
Saturday’s game saw Vanarama-sponsored Hemel Storm face Worthing Thunder away from home in what was to be an entertaining affair between the two teams with a history of rivalry between them. After falling behind in the first half, Storm had an impressive third quarter which turned the scores in their favour at 60-62 but a 22-14 final quarter in favour of Worthing Thunder saw the hosts win the game 82-76, sending their supporters home happy, but left the travelling Storm fans with a dull and long journey back to Hemel Hempstead.
For Storm, Taylor Johnson was once again stealing the show with 34 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds, Greg Poleon with 23 points 14 rebounds and Sam Newman scoring 11 points and 4 assists; his third point being his 1000th career point.
This loss puts Storm with a 12-6 record, which needs to be improved if Storm want to finish in a top four position in the table.
There is much improvement needed for Storm now as they have a double header at home. These games will go a long way to deciding Storm’s season. They take on Nottingham Hoods on Saturday 26th February 7pm tip and Bradford Dragons on Sunday 27th February 5pm tip. Tickets are available online at www.stormbasketball.net.
