A familiar face rejoins the Storm as Sam Newman has agreed to return for his 4th year at the club.
The Englishman averaged 12.2 points and an impressive 7.5 assists per game last year, becoming only the 7th NBL1 player on record to average over 7.5 assists in a campaign.
The 27 year old began life in the Ipswich basketball academy, before gaining experience with 2 years in Alberta, Canada. He then returned to England and continued his basketball career with a season at Essex Leopards, then joining the Storm and leaving again for a year at Essex Rebels. By the time Sam came back to Storm, he was seen as a refined, talented guard and has improved year-on-year at Hemel, constantly adding skills to his ever-growing repertoire and played a huge part in Storm’s on-court success last campaign, earning him a place in NBL’s British Team of the Year.
We are delighted to welcome Sam back to the Storm family for another season and fans should be enthusiastically anticipating the start of the new season, with Storm once more compiling a competitive roster.
