Saturday 26th February: Hemel Storm 79-98 Nottingham Hoods (NBL Division One)
Sunday 27th February: Hemel Storm 91-72 Bradford Dragons (NBL Division One)

Last weekend saw Vanarama-sponsored Hemel Storm face Nottingham Hoods and Bradford Dragons.

Saturday’s game against a strong Nottingham Hoods team was a tough defeat with Storm outclassed in all areas of the court. From the second quarter onwards, Nottingham showed their strength in both ends of the court leaving Storm behind, shooting a higher percentage of shots compared to Storm. The final score was 79-98 in favour of the Hoods.

Top scorers for that game were Greg Poleon with 27 points and 9 rebounds, Sam Newman with 25 points and Taylor Johnson 13 points and 9 rebounds.

Sunday’s game against Bradford Dragons was a must win game for Storm to bounce back from the night before and to improve their record in the league. They did so with a good first half, eventually winning the game 91-72. It was a better display by Storm with improved shooting and decision making shown by the team.

Top scorers on Sunday were Taylor Johnson with 33 points and 9 rebounds, Jack Burnell with 15 points and Greg Poleon with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

It was a weekend of mixed emotions and Storm now go into another double header this weekend starting with a long journey north to face Bradford Dragons away from home on Saturday 5th March and Team Newcastle University on Sunday 6th March. These games are vital for Storm’s season as they currently sit with a 13-7 record in the league.

The next home game is on Saturday 12th March against BA London Lions, a team who Storm beat earlier in the league season, but were knocked out by in the National Cup, Tip is at 7pm. Tickets available at the door, on the night or in advance at www.stormbasketball.net.
