09/03/2022

In a preparation game for their FIMBA European Championships in Spain, Hemel Storm will host Great Britain's (GB) over 35 team on Saturday 16th April 2022, 7pm tip at Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre.

In what will be a special night at the “StormDome” fans will get the chance to see past Storm stalwarts and key players Tom Adorian , Walid Mumuni and Simon "Spud" Kearney who are representing GB. It is the first chance we have had to acknowledge their incredible long-term loyalty and their huge contribution to the growth of our Club.

In addition, we will recognise Bode Adeluola for completing an amazing 10 years with Storm, in which time he has competed in over 170 games to date.

Plus, during the half-time interval we'll be presenting our 2021/2022 player and volunteer awards.

GB over 35s are coached by Liam Jefferson who says "We are very grateful to Hemel Storm for agreeing to host us in our preparation for the European Championships this summer. To be able to use the game to celebrate the accomplishments of some of our own guys who once pulled on a Storm jersey and did so much for the club will also make it a great event. After several training camps this will be our first competitive game as a group, but we are really developing our identity and playing an exciting brand of basketball that people will enjoy watching and supporting. We’re really looking forward to testing ourselves against Storm."

Jon Burnell, Storm's Director of Basketball added "As we plan for a positive end to the current season, we're delighted to host this event, which we hope is a perfect way for Liam and his team to prepare for Spain but also to thank some of our longest serving players. It’s right that we thank Bode, Tom, Walid and Spud; they have played over 500 games between them for Storm and have been central to our success over a very long period of time. This will be the final game at the StormDome until September and it is a great way to finish this season and to thank our fans and sponsors for their incredible support this year."

Hemel Storm plan to make a financial donation to an institution that will be chosen in due course and announced closer to the event.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online now at www.stormbasketball.net.
