Hemel Storm, subject to final visa clearance, are very pleased to announce the signing of Greg Poleon for the upcoming season following two strong seasons in the NCAA Division II representing Pace University.
The 21 year old, 6ft 6 Poleon captained Pace University in his Senior year and averaged 12.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks per game. Poleon is looking forward to joining the Storm and excited about the beginning of his professional career:
Greg commented: “I would like to thank the Hemel Storm, Chairman Tony Humphrey, Director of Coaching Jon Burnell and the entire organisation for this amazing opportunity. I look forward to reporting to Hemel Hempstead, meeting my new teammates, getting on the court in the Storm black and orange, and playing in front of the Storm fans.
I also would like to thank Coaches Healing, Ryan, Merceus and Rigothi of Pace University and Coaches Herkelman and Fisher at Coffeyville CC because this would not be possible without their instruction and guidance over my college career. I also would like to thank Coach Tiny Morton, not only a legendary player in his day but a legendary high school coach who helped turn me into the player and man I am today. I would also like to thank my agent, Ryan Mulvaney, for his counsel and advise in assisting me with securing this opportunity.”
And, most importantly, I would like to thank my parents Rhonda and Elias for their love and support and from whom I get my work ethic; I try to make them proud every day.
To the Storm fans, I will do everything in my power to assist my Storm teammates in bringing us to the NBL-1 playoffs”
The Storm faithful should look forward to seeing the high-flying Poleon dominate on both ends of the floor; his ability to rebound, protect the rim, score efficiently and stretch the floor will add a new dimension to the current roster and compliment the talents already at our disposal. Poleon’s agent believes this is an excellent opportunity:
Greg’s agent, Ryan Mulvaney commented: “I appreciate the opportunity for Greg to play for Storm. Both Chairman Tony Humphrey and Director of Coaching Jon Burnell, have been great to work with during this process. I am happy that Greg will be in an excellent basketball environment and in a great community where he can grow both on and off the court”
For Storm, it’s another exciting piece in the jigsaw fitted, the backroom team are impressed with Poleon’s maturity and excited by what he can bring to Hemel.
