Hemel Storm confirm coaching team for the 2019/2020 campaign

31/08/2019

Storm can today announce that Dru Spinks has agreed to become their Head Coach. The former BBL player and England international will assume the role with immediate effect and will, as previously announced, be joined by Assistant Coach Michael Darlow. This follows the decision by Rikki Broadmore to take a full time job in basketball.

Dru was, of course, one of Storm’s finest ever players and his appointment as Head Coach will be hugely popular with Storm fans who will be thrilled to see him back at the club and will be looking forward to an exciting season which begins with a friendly match against Team USA Select on Saturday 7th September.

Dru commented “It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to return to the Storm family who I have remained close to since I retired from playing. I will immediately get to work with Michael and the new roster to build a program that will further develop our culture and underpin our philosophy for the coming season and the longer term. I can’t wait to get started and be back at the StormDome with the best fans in the league”

Director of Basketball at Storm Jon Burnell “We are delighted that Dru has agreed to become our Head Coach. Dru has a great reputation within the basketball community, his leadership skills will be vital for the personal development of the players and the team. Our coaching appointments this summer point to the future with a young, hungry and exciting combination of coaching capability that will be supported by experienced coaching mentors at all levels”.

Storm first home game sees them welcome Team USA Select to Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre on 7th September, tip off 7pm. Visit www.stormbasketball.net to purchase tickets and to view 2019/20 fixtures.
