Jack Burnell will return for the 2024/25 campaign; his ninth senior spell at the club.
Having risen through the junior ranks, Burnell has been a regular face at the StormDome since 2013, initially with the Under-18s for two years before moving up to the men’s side.
Burnell has overseen the steady progression of the club as a whole and has been a large part of the junior setup’s success as a community coach. He has recently taken up a leadership role in Storm’s independent junior coaching programme, launched last year.
Known for his sharp-shooting, sitting at fifth in NBL Division One history for three-point shots made, Burnell has diversified his own game over his time at the club and is now a very capable playmaker around the basket.
After leading the side to Playoff triumph as captain last time out, he is desperate to continue the good work of recent efforts and add to Storm’s growing list of silverware as we rapidly head towards the beginning of a new season. “I’m excited to be back, there’s nothing better than representing your home town club.”
“The 24/25 campaign is shaping up nicely following the conclusion of last year where I was fortunate enough to lift the trophy of our second Playoff title.”
“All focus now turns to a new year as we build for more success under Mark, Mike and Jake’s expertise!”
Jack’s passion for the club is undoubted and he has established himself as a key figure, always guaranteed to engage with the fans post-match. He will again be crucial in helping any new faces settle into the club and it’s a responsibility he enjoys.
“I cannot wait to welcome some of our new players, as well as getting back to work with those who have returned and seeing our amazing fan base!”
He won’t have to wait long as the season is now less than a month away. The squad is shaping up nicely already with more exciting news to come so make sure to keep in touch on our social media platforms and our website as the StormDome gets itself ready to house our supporters once more!
