Today we are pleased to announce that Sir Mike Penning has accepted an invitation to become a Honorary Life President of Hemel Storm.
Following Mike's decision to retire after 19 years of being our local MP, a period in which Mike and his wife Angie as well as their wider families became huge fans and regular attendees at the StormDome, it's now appropriate for the club to acknowledge Mike's contribution to our recent growth journey.
Hemel Storm Chairman Tony Humphrey commented “As a management team we are delighted that Mike will continue his association with Storm via this important role. We wouldn’t be where we are now without Mike’s past help and guidance, which during my 9 years as Chairman has been nothing short of game changing. We are embarking upon some very exciting times but equally some very big decisions and we need the best people inside our organisation and Mike’s advice moving forward will be an essential ingredient in respect to our future growth strategy.”
Sir Mike added “It really does mean a huge amount to me to be asked to become a Honorary Life President of this fantastic club that plays such a vital role at the very heart our community. It’s been a joy to see and be a part of our recent growth and national success which has been underpinned by the hard work of the volunteers who run Storm, I am proud of them and what we have all achieved together; it’s a wonderful organisation and I look forward to representing the club moving forward.”
