The season may have come to an abrupt end but we still have AWARDS to present, all be it virtually right now!

2019/20 COACHES PLAYER OF SEASON – GREG POLEON
Voted on by the Coaching Team

Coach Dru Spinks said “A really tough decision as so many of the players have shown huge amounts of commitment and dedication this season in fully engaging and striving to represent  Hemel Storm in the best possible manner.Greg epitomises the essence of who a Hemel Storm player is.

An impressive individual ‘Body of Work’ (Performance) - 31.2 mpg, 18.8ppg, 54.8 FG%, 11.2 rpg contributing to a team win percentage of 72.7%.

This decision was made not only for his 'body of work' from a performance standpoint on the court, but also for the incredibly high moral standards he has represented the club with off the court…out in the community.

Greg’s consistency . . . game in, game out, day in, day out was evident from the moment he touched down in September to when he departed the other week . . . he literally treated and approached each practice and game like it was the last chance to ever play basketball again.

Greg's thirst to improve and grow to be the best 'professional' he can possibly be, has been clear for all to see throughout a very successful, maiden season as a first time Pro.

I must add that many of the characteristics and traits I have referenced to describe Greg have also been evident from many of his teammates throughout this 19/20 campaign...Congrats to Greg and his teammates.”

2019/20 PLAYERS PLAYER OF SEASON – GREG POLEON
Voted on by the players

Captain Walid Mumuni said “Very rarely do you come across a player that is striving to get better each and every day. Greg epitomises the definition of hard work, commitment and a positive mental attitude. He has the talent to score in a variety of ways. His athleticism is explosive (just ask some of the guys he dunked on this season!) and his ability to dominate the paint is second to none. Popular with the Hemel fans, Greg is also an inspiration and a role model for the next generation of Hemel ballers. To be awarded as the Hemel

Storm Players Player of the year means that you have earnt the respect and admiration of your teammates. This award is well deserved Greg. We wish nothing but the best of luck moving forward and see you in August!!”

STORM II PLAYER OF THE SEASON - NICK ALLIN

Nick has been the standout player for Storm II this season. His average was 23.5 and highest score was 42.

He has been a constant scoring threat from 3 point range but is also able to penetrate and score at close range too; whenever we needed a basket he has been the 'go to' player.

Besides this he brings composure and organisation to the team and also leads the team in assists. His award is validated by the many compliments from opposing coaches and players.

And our final award for this season, the reason that makes this good club GREAT – our volunteers!

2019/20 VOLUNTEERS OF THE SEASON – DAVE AND GILL ALLIN
Voted on by the Management Committee

This award is made by Storm's management committee in recognition of an extraordinarily contribution to our Club.

Many in the club will know that Dave and Gill have a long history with the Club. They and their family (including current player's Nick and Sean) have been loyal through the good and more challenging times across many years. They have given their time generously for the greater good of our club, continuously showed outstanding commitment to Hemel Storm and this award thanks them for their support. They represent the finest example of Storm people always offering solutions and advice in the most positive of ways.

This history combined with the recent efforts to establish a Hemel Storm II, make Dave and Gill the stand-out candidates for this award. Running this team hasn't been easy and the fact that this has been achieved to a balanced budget for two seasons now is a wonderful achievement by them both. Their selfless determination to run this side has provided fantastic opportunities for those who wish to play senior men’s NBL basketball. Dave of course has applied his immense coaching experience to achieving the best on-court outcomes but providing the opportunity at all is the greater measure of success.

It didn't go unnoticed either that Dave was on hand at most Hemel Storm I training sessions throughout the year offering welcome advice to our new coaching set-up.

On behalf of Storm a massive thank you to Dave and Gill, it’s much appreciated.
