After a fantastic season where the team had much more to give and the fans had much more to cheer we should remember the great moments both on and off the court.
Let’s start with a message from the Chairman, which was due to be printed in the last programme.
I wanted to write a few words to you, the best fans in National League basketball.
This time last year was a difficult moment for us. You may remember that in the final game we failed to make the play-offs and on the same night our seating in the Dome was condemned. With that benchmark in mind, we can safely say that this season has been a tremendous success both on and off the court for Storm.
So firstly, congratulations to the players and coaching staff for their extraordinary hard work in reaching this season's play-offs. In the busy months of last summer Jon Burnell assembled a group of top talent that has delivered team success. I am especially proud that in Mike and Greg we have proved to ourselves that we can import top talent. Furthermore, we have created a fantastic environment for them both to grow and to make an enormous contribution to our wider community. A note too for Hemel Storm II, led by Dave Allin, who remain an important part of our wider strategy.
Off court Storm, the management team and our amazing volunteers continue to operate at the highest and often envied standards. Were this not the case, we would never have achieved the miracle of council funding for a new 650 seat capacity. Court success has generated record crowds, record merchandise sales and a record number of local schools who have enjoyed coaching visits from Mike, Greg, Jack and PJ via our Russell Hoops partnership.
Finally, and most of all, I want to thank our ever-expanding network of sponsors who generously continue to invest in our project. What they are doing behind the scenes to make all of this possible should always be remembered.
Thank you for supporting us so magnificently this season and we look forward to seeing you when the 2020/21 starts.
