Nottingham Trent University 90 – Hemel Storm 78
National League Division 3

Despite a spirited performance, Hemel Storm’s second team were unable to overcome an energetic Nottingham Trent Uni team in their National League Division 3 matchup on Saturday.

Hemel started brightly, taking advantage of the mismatches created by Nottingham’s switching defence. But the home team were able to establish eleven point first quarter lead underpinned by an incredible eight 3 pointers.

A change of defence by Storm in the second quarter ensured no further damage as they tied the period at 24 points each.

A re-energised Storm were quickly out of the blocks in the third quarter and an 18-6 run edged them into a single point lead at 60-59. But the University team responded with a defensive change of their own which again turned the tide in their favour and took them to a 12 point victory.

Storm Captain, Daryl Craine, said: “We played well at times today but we were undone by some excellent long range shooting from Nottingham. We only had seven players available due to injury and this eventually took its toll as we faded in the last quarter.”
